QR Code Marketing

google qr codeRecently, QR codes have become more prevalent in marketing circles and have been integrated into both traditional and interactive campaigns. Media where QR codes can be deployed include: billboard ads, guerilla marketing campaigns, in-store displays, event ticketing and tracking, trade-show management, business cards, print ads, contests, direct mail campaigns, websites, email marketing, and couponing, to name just a few. QR codes can also be used at trade shows and in conferences.

In January 2011, the Memphis Rock ‘n’ Soul Museum launched a line of museum t-shirts and apparel which feature museum logos and designs on the front, and a QR code screened on the right back shoulder, which directs to the museum’s web site or artist interviews.

qr codeQR codes can also be used in tourism. For example in Lviv (Ukraine), QR codes have been placed on more than 80 tourism objects. The QR codes are in several languages and they help tourists easily get the information on the city and local attractions.

Company and government usage of QR codes is increasing on a daily basis. In February 2011 a County Council in the UK started using QR codes to help residents access travel information. Household names recently employing QR codes in their marketing campaigns include: Calvin Klein, Tissot, Debenhams, John Lewis, Waitrose, Aldi, Wilkinson Sword, Channel 4, ITV and the Liberal Democrats even used them in their 2010 election material.
